The History of Gayaram Das Vidyamandir
Vidyanagar Gayaram Das Vidyamandir located at vidyanagar in the district of purba bardhaman has a achieved history and hoary tradition of education and culture. The vital points of development may be noted as follows;
In the very beginning it started as a unit of rural reconstruction and community development on the 1st January,1950 to educate and train the people at the grass root level.
Thereafter in close co-operation o f thelocal generous people, it inspirationally appeared as a Junior High School starting class V to VIII initially on 1st January,1953.
Gradually and steadily this school turned into a High School w.e.f. 1st January, 1955.
On the 1st March, 1958, the High School participated in the G.A. Scheme as usual.
Next on 1st April, 1959, the High School was upgraded to H.S class XI with Humanities.
Further it was upgraded to class XI with Science w.e.f. 1st January, 1961.
On 1st January, 1962, this institution was upgraded to H.S. Class XI with the subjects of agriculture and commerce.
Later on 1st July, 1976 it was upgraded to H.S. class XII with general courses of studies.
In fine, this proggrasive institution was upgraded to H.S. class XII with Vocational Agriculture courses which lane into effect from 1st July, 1976.
All these glorious development of the school is a golden memento of its past history and culture.
Past and Present of Vidyanagar
This Vidyanagar was a prosperous town and the best educational center of ancient Bengal. Navadwip Dham was called the 'Oxford of the East', and its center was this Vidyanagar. Vidyanagar was the capital of the educational and cultural sphere that was formed at that time centered around the Greater East and Navadvipa. Vasude Sarvabhaum, Raghunath Shiromani, Mathuranath Tarkabagish, Vishwanath Nyaya Panchanan, Gangadas Bhattacharya and others were one of the pioneers of Sanskrit literature and literature. Vaishnava religion and literature mainly developed around this Navadvipa-Vidyanagara. Nimai, the once great argumentative scholar of Nabadwip, who was later enshrined in the form of Mahaprabhu Sri Caitanya, also used to come to this Vidyanagara to receive education. As a result, Vidyanagar's reputation for education and knowledge spread not only throughout the country but also abroad.
The 'tradition' of the distant past continues to be carefully carried on today 'Knowledge Village' Vidyanagar, its ongoing paradigm is the great achievement and glory of Vidyanagar "Vidyanagar Gayaram Das Vidyamandir" a joint endeavor of Heavenly Founder Head Master Paresh Chandra Goswami and Heavenly Gayaram Das. The triumphal journey of our beloved educational institution, which began in 1950 with the ideals of Sri Chaitanya Dev's love and harmony of all religions, today has crossed far and wide beyond the borders of the country. Sri Chaitanya Padaraj: Vidya Nagar, which is full of particles, wants to realize the universal ideal of Visva Bharati in the spirit of Swamiji and Rabindra Bhavana within the small infrastructure of this school.
